Cổ kính Bổ Đà

Together with Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Bo Da pagoda is an ancient beauty spot, one of the big Buddhist centers of Truc Lam sect of Bac Giang civilized land. The pagoda is located on the north bank of Cau River, about 40 km north of Hanoi and about 15 km from Bac Giang city. The pagoda is located in Thuong Lat village, Tien Son commune, Viet Yen district. This is one of the interesting destinations for visitors to the cultural area on the north bank of the Cau River. It is dedicated to Thach Linh the General and Truc Lam Tam To (including Tran Nhan Tong, Phap Loa and Huyen Quang).

Bo Da also has another name, Quan Am Pagoda. This is the name associated with the old legend that the poor and poor woodcutter couple, one day went to the forest to cut firewood, the husband came to fell the old pine tree, every time he added, he recited "Avalokiteshvara Avalokiteshvara", then suddenly saw a flash under the ax, the money splashed, counting 32 coins. He knew that the Buddha blessing him, he bowed to him and prayed for the pimples, then he erected a thatched-roof pagoda under an old pine tree and painted a statue of Guan Yin daily to worship incense. As expected, October 9, the day his wife gave birth to a handsome boy. Therefore, the pagoda was later called Ong Bo pagoda, gradually many people came to worship and pray for anything to be shown. Later the temple was expanded and through many renovations and embellishment still architecture today.
According to historical data, Bo Da pagoda dates from the Ly dynasty of the 11th century and was built in the scale of the eighteenth century under the reign of King Le Du Tong. The pagoda is located on the Bo Da mountain in the Phuong Hoang mountain range. Around the pagoda there are many big mountains such as Thuong temple, Cao pagoda, Kham pagoda, Phuong Hoang tops, Truc Lat tops, Golden Elephant Table of Ban Co Tien. In the distance is the covered Cau river, surrounding the lush pine forest pagoda, giving the pagoda a quiet and serene atmosphere and always fresh and cool atmosphere. 
Bo Da's scenery was praised by the ancients in ancient poems:
 “The four different landscapes / Bong Lai are just like this” 
Or:
"The first is Duc La pagoda / Second pagoda and Trang pagoda third." 

The architecture of complementary Pagoda is not directed to the majestic, magnificent but designed in a continuous way towards the purity of the Buddhist realm to create a unique difference from the ancient pagodas in the plain. North. The main pagoda is an inner sanctum with dozens of rows of houses, big and small, connected by rows of corridors, courtyards and grounds of the pagoda and surrounded by meters high and thick soil walls. The walls from the entrance gate, the barrier separating the inner sanctum from the pagoda garden are all covered with earthen and small earth wall technique; pagoda garden with all kinds of lush fruit trees all year round makes the pagoda look dark, ancient and sacred ... 

In addition to airy natural landscapes, unique architecture, Bo Da is still a place to store invaluable heritage that is the largest garden tower in Vietnam with about 100 large and small towers. This is the place to store the relics, ashes of more than 1200 monks of the Truc Lam Zen school. And the ancient Buddhist scriptures on the wooden market include nearly 2,000 copies of the woodblock. According to many documents, this is the oldest scripture in Vietnam which has been preserved by many natural disasters and enemy sabotages. The sutras were preserved in an open temple on eight wooden shelves, each containing four volumes of scriptures.

Coming to Bo Da, visitors can go from Hanoi in the direction of National Highway 1A, cross the Cau Cau turn left to follow the dyke of Cau River about 4 km, or from Bac Giang city down Highway 1A to Dinh intersection. Tram turn into Bich Dong town through Bich Son commune about 10 km to reach Bo Da. Here visitors will leisurely walk in the green pine hills, immersed in the solitude and tranquility of the pagoda landscape and visit a complex of monuments including Tu An Pagoda, Cao Pagoda, Kham Pagoda, Linh Pagoda Chi, Ha temple, Trung temple, Thuong temple, and if you have time, tourists can visit Lat Thuong communal house, Lat Ha communal house, Thach Long pagoda, Van Son pagoda, Cam Vang temple, Ngu temple ...  


Every year, the festival of Bo Da pagoda takes place from 16 - 18 February of the lunar calendar. On this occasion, all temples and pagodas in Bo Da mountain area are decorated with colorful flags. The center of the festival is the Trung temple on the south slope, Thuong temple on the top of the mountain, Quan Am pagoda in the north and Tu An pagoda at the foot of Phuong Hoang mountain ... In the typical cultural space of the northern region, the Quan ho festival Year was organized by Bac Giang province in Bo Da pagoda on the occasion of the beginning of spring and it has become a meeting place for the brothers and sisters and those who love this folk song and also revive it. the cultural activities of a world heritage site, so when coming to Bo Da, visitors can not only immerse themselves in the charming natural scenery, but also enjoy the Quan Ho songs all night long, free their souls in stamping the tunes they love lyrically captivated people.

Coming to Bo Da, tourists can combine to visit some tourist spots such as Tho Ha ancient village or Ba Chua Kho temple. These destinations are only about 3 to 5 km apart.
